Our Wines

  • 2005 Unwooded Chardonnay – bright straw-yellow wine full of juicy ripe fruit with melon, apple and peach aromas. Not a titch of oak to interfere with the stand-alone fruit flavours. Cool climate acidity with crisp and clean finish. Easy to like.

  • 2005 Wooded Chardonnay – Good fruit integration with new and used French oak. Fermented on-lees in barrel. Butterscotch, nutty and creamy aromas. Flawless wine in limited quantity from a master chardonnay winemaker. There is a least a silver medal in this vintage.

  • 2005 Cabernet:Merlot (70:30) - This is good. Deep bright red colour from skin contact but with the length and complexity of cool climate fruit. Matured in used American oak barrels, the fruit holds centre stage. This wine will soften and mature further for the next few years.

  • 2005 Shiraz - Who said Canberra District can’t produce a full bodied tannic red? Not us. Excellent ripe fruit from Hall is the key here, this wine is ruby-red in colour with youthful cherry aromas. Could be a good one to hide away for a couple of seasons.

  • 2004 Shiraz - This wine is a truly elegant wine with black pepper, mixed fruit and gamey complexities. A very sexy shiraz with clean fruit flavours and lovely balance. Take some to lunch.

  • 2005 Riesling - We think they drink Riesling in heaven - but what would we know (yet). It has the usual pale, slightly green appearance of a good cool climate Riesling with floral lime and citrus aromas. Looking forward to further flavour development in future years in bottle. Acidity is firm which will help.

  • 2005 Sauvignon Blanc - Taken to full ferment dryness, this wine relies for any sweetness on natural fruit salad tastes. It has herbaceous aromas but these are not at all overdone. The flavours are kept sharp and crisp by tangy acidity. Very popular (and very different) from the Chardonnay flood.

  • 2004 Merlot - Ah Merlot – our first plantings. If only the fruit would be consistent from one year to the next. This vintage was in the middle of the mother of all droughts. A very Cabernet style this, absolutely full-bodied but not with death-defying tannins. Plums and mulberries are everywhere. Lastly, there is an unusual minty (but not unpleasant) aroma which we think came from the hot winds blowing in oils from nearby gum trees.

  • 2004 Pinot Noir – This wine has a nose of cherries growing in an earthy oak forest. Tannin structure is good, as is the deep colour. It reminds us of pheasant shooting on some English hunting estate – not that we have ever done such an awful thing of course. The palate is medium bodied with a long soft finish.
